TakenoLAB exists because we envision a world where your birthplace or circumstances don’t
determine your ability to participate in the digital economy. We’re here to bridge gaps, open
doors, and unleash the untapped potential of underserved communities, creating a more
inclusive and innovative global digital landscape for all.
TakenoLAB is a visionary non-profit organization with a global mission to bridge the digital
divide for underserved communities worldwide. Born in 2015 at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in
Malawi, founded by Burundian refugee Remy Gakwaya, TakenoLAB has transcended its
origins to become a beacon of digital empowerment across continents.
With roots in Malawi and branches now extending to Idaho, USA, TakenoLAB embodies the
potential for global change through localized action. Our presence in both developing and
developed nations uniquely positions us to understand and address the universal challenges
of digital exclusion, regardless of geographical or economic boundaries.
Empowering Underserved Communities Worldwide.
Empowering underserved communities worldwide with digital skills to thrive in the global economy.
world where every individual, regardless of location or background, actively shapes and benefits from the digital future.
TakenoLAB exists to break the cycle of digital exclusion and economic disparity that traps
millions of talented individuals in underserved communities worldwide. We believe that in
today’s interconnected world, access to digital skills is not just a luxury—it’s a fundamental
right and a key to unlocking human potential.
We recognize that brilliance and innovation
can come from anywhere, but not everyone has the chance to develop and showcase
their abilities. TakenoLAB exists to level the playing field.
In a world where technology touches every aspect
of life and work, digital literacy is the new foundation for economic participation and
personal growth. We exist to provide this crucial foundation to those who would
otherwise be left behind
By equipping individuals with
marketable digital skills, we’re not just changing lives—we’re catalyzing a ripple e ect of
positive change that can transform entire communities and contribute to global progress.
From rural Africa to urban America, millions lack access to
crucial digital skills, hindering their participation in the modern economy.
Potential in underserved communities represents a
loss for the global tech industry and economy.
